"Invest in the futur: Defeat malaria"

World Malaria Day was established in 2007 during the 60th session of world Health Assembly. Every April 25,
to celebrate world malaria day individuals, organizations, Governments etc. are expected to review their efforts and contributions to the fight against malaria so far, as well as educate people in their circle and those they are responsible for.

All you need to know about malaria:

  • It is transmitted by a female anopheles mosquito
  • It is completely preventable and curable yet
  • Statistics have shown that nearly half of the world's population is at risk of the disease
  • And it kills half a million each year
  • Some people do not show sign or symptoms of this disease
  • Drug resistance has been a serious challenge in treating malaria (avoid self medication)

Proactive actions Includes:

Keeping the environment tidy (is it a coincidence that Malaria Day is a Day after World Earth Day?).
  • Ensuring our drainage is well kempt
  • Taking adequate care of our lawns and gardens, ensuring they don't over grow
  • Fumigating our home and surroundings as applicable to our environment (make sure you do not inhale chemicals in the process)
  • Fixing nets in our doors and windows and more importantly sleeping with a net "for those who live around highly infected area"

If by chance you feel any of these symptoms:

  • Fever
  • Headache
  • Muscle ache
  • Weakness etc.
Contact your health care service provider or the nearest health care center immediately.
Educate your family and friends...
